Course Overview
David's Swim School and LIFE-GUARD PRO have partnered to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies and provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries, and sudden illnesses until emergency medical service (EMS) personnel take over.
TO BE A LIFEGUARD
• - Proficiency in four competitive strokes: Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and
Butterfly
• - Mastery of two rescue strokes: Side Stroke and Elementary Backstroke
• - Ability to tread water for at least 3 minutes without assistance
Pre-Course Skills Evaluation (Required):
All candidates must complete a pre-course water evaluation before being accepted into the
program. This evaluation replicates parts of the final course exam and helps determine:
- If the candidate is ready to begin the course
- Or if additional swim or rescue technique training is needed before entry
Total Course Duration: 18 Hours
• - 8 hours - Online theory
• - 2 hours - Oral assessment
• - 2 hours - Pool training (technique & skill refinement)
• - 4 hours - Rescue simulations and practical drills
• - 2 hours - CPR training

Eligibility Requirements:
• - Proficiency in all four competitive strokes: Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, and
Butterfly
• - Ability to execute starts (dives) and turns for each stroke
Pre-Course Skills Evaluation (Required):
All candidates must complete a pre-course water evaluation before being accepted into the
program. This evaluation helps determine:
- If the candidate is ready to begin the course
- Or if additional refinement of stroke technique or transitions is needed before entry
Total Course Duration: 19 Hours
• - 8 hours - Online theory
• - 2 hours - Oral assessment
• - 3 hours - Pool training (stroke refinement & aquatic skill development)
• - 2 hours - Planning for beginner and advanced swim levels
• - 2 hours - Teaching basic swim level class
• - 2 hours - Teaching advanced swim level class
• - Survival and water safety teaching techniques included

Our Drowning Prevention Florida Foundation provides services to families with low income and special needs, giving swimming lessons and aquatic therapy.
Across Broward, Miami-Dade, and Palm Beach, we facilitate learning and rehabilitation in a safe, comfortable, and family environment. We establish and give valuable tips for the safety of families, many who wish to learn about drowning prevention and swimming therapy.
Our students develop and improve at a rapid pace, and you can observe their advances during the course.
All proceeds inside our facility go towards the Drowning Prevention Florida foundation.
