Pregnancy Program
Lessons for
Pregnancy Program
Ease the discomforts of pregnancy and stay safe with this cool pool workout. Any type of aerobic exercise during pregnancy helps increase the body's ability to process and use oxygen, which is important for you and your baby. But swimming is a great exercise, as it uses both major muscle groups (arms and legs). Although it is a low-impact activity, swimming provides good cardiovascular benefits and allows pregnant women to feel weightless despite the extra pounds added by pregnancy. Swimming improves circulation, increases muscle tone and strength, and increases endurance. Swimming helps to counteract the increased back tension of your expanding belly. Pregnancy forces the spine and shoulders to round forward and the pelvis to tilt out of alignment, but gentle swimming strengthens the muscles and offsets this tendency. The water that protects against overheating and supports the joints and ligaments while exercising, preventing injuries. If you swim, you burn calories, feel less tired, sleep better, and are better equipped to handle the physical and emotional challenges of pregnancy. Swimming helps you keep your weight within a healthy range, and some women say that swimming makes them feel less bloated.

Aquatic Therapy
Lessons for
Aquatic Therapy
Aquatic Therapy is an excellent supplement to land-based physical and occupational therapy, providing one-on-one treatment sessions. It uses safe and efficient methods to achieve your child’s individualized short-term goals. The water offers a gentle resistance, which increases strength and enhances sensory feedback and learning. In addition, the water supports muscles while children work on balance and posture. The therapists utilize aquatic and land-based techniques, including myofascial release, neuro-developmental treatment, sensory motor integration, and functional motor skills. Aquatic Therapy is an effective way to address many types of conditions including sensory, neurological, and orthopedic problems.

Rehabilitation, in an aquatic environment, provides patients a unique medium for neuromuscular reeducation and strengthening.
Increased muscular strength occurs quicker as movements are performed against the resistance of the water.
David's Swim School offers a unique swim program designed to provide an educational and therapeutic environment for children with special needs. We continually train our instructors to work with special needs children. While our lessons may appear simplistic and fun are, in reality, carefully orchestrated and tailored to each child’s particular needs and abilities.
The water environment permits earlier detection of small neuromuscular movement and responses. The anti-gravity effect of water makes it easier to work with these movements to increase range of motion and strength.

You’ll often hear people say that swimming is the best exercise for numerous reasons. Why not use swimming as your primary source to keep fit? It is referred to as the five star form of exercise as it makes you breathe more heavily, the water acts as resistance training, it is low impact on your body, tones your whole body working all key muscle groups, it’s a fantastic boost to your heart and lungs and it can be more relaxing than running as the water takes your body weight. Our SwimFit classes are available to swimmers of different levels or for those with no knowledge of swimming.

Armed Forces

Armed Forces
In an effort to support the men and women of the United States Armed Forces and American Red Cross, our academy has been working on ways to help those already serving, and those about to dive in. Water confidence is an essential part of many military, water safety or lifeguard careers, in particular special operations. Whether you are swimming, boating, or going to a water park, everyone should know the basics of water safety and learn about all swimming techniques. Understanding these different strokes helps you to choose better in which direction to go. We offer courses for personal safety and swimming for all ages, safety in small water craft, and courses leading to certification in lifeguarding and/or Basic Training Physical Fitness Tests for the Armed Forces. Although we in no way want to compare what we can do for you with the regular programs at these entities, we believe we can help prepare you. Whether it is swimming efficiency and/or stamina, combat strokes, mask and snorkel, breath control, treading water, as well as the four swimming techniques, The Crawl, or Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and the Butterfly Stroke. We can do intensive one on one specific training and coaching, or be a general guide. Finally, if you are looking for swimming lessons, all year around, you can train in any kind of weather, where you are welcomed and applauded for who you are, or are about to accomplish, look no further than your friends.

Zumba
Lessons for
Zumba
Zumba is a total-body cardio and aerobic workout, which provides a large calorie consumption. A study shows that a person burns 300 to 900kcal with an hour-long Zumba exercise. So, if a person successfully burns 500 calories in each day's workout, then he/she can lose one pound of weight in a week as one pound of fat contains about 3500 calories. Because Zumba offers different options, proponents of the Zumba program claim that it is safe for all ages, meaning that anyone from age 0 to 100 can participate in this form of aerobic exercise. Some of the classes are specifically aimed at elderly people, to help them build strength, improve motion and posture, and socialize. Besides its high calorie burning benefit, Zumba can help lower the risk of heart disease, reduce blood pressure and bad cholesterol, and increase good cholesterol.
